Temple of the Three Windows
The temple of the three windows is located west of the main square. Its floor is a rectangular shape. The origin of its name comes from how the main face has 3 windows and 2 blind bays. Joined with Machu Picchu it’s the greatest achievement in architecture in all of Machu Picchu. Architects used smaller than centimeter precision to form the huge polyhedrons. Machu Picchu is mounted on a saddle between Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu with a great view of 2 vast valleys and impassable mountain. Its water supply was very tough and couldn’t be blocked easily. It has enough land area to feed 4 Machu Picchu populations. The hillsides besides providing more space for agriculture it was another defense mechanism for evil invaders to climb.

Machu Picchu the Inca Temple
Professor
Hiram Bingham was actually looking for another site when he found the great
temple. He was looking for the great capital city, Vilcabamba before defeated
by the Spanish. Machu was amazing still whole when he found it. Apparently the
Spanish never touched it. The only thing the Spanish ever knew about it was the
word “Picchu” saying it had something to do with the Inca emperor. The creator
of Machu is believed to be Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui, ninth ruler of Inca in the
mid-1400s. His reign involved a chain of conquests that evolved the Inca’s and
expanding their territory. Many archeologists believed that Machu is built as
some sort of royal estate and there is significant evidence supporting the
theory like how there is a cluster of grand residences nearby. The emperor and
his/her family would use it daily. Machu Picchu was most likely a place for
peace and quiet. Even though it has standard defense systems like a moat and
wall there is no supporting evidence that any sort of battle took place there.
One of the biggest mysteries is a big rock in Machi picchu and other parts of
the Inca Empire. The rock is placed on a platform overlooking the temple. Some
guess that it’s used as a sundial. The fall of Machu Picchu and the Inca’s
involve plagues killing the population and also with the Spanish appearing with
their advanced military weapons.
